I didn't necessarily like the coverage of thread on the linen, and when I asked a friend to count the threads the fabric seemed to be almost 32 count rather than 36, even though it was sold as 36 count. I did match it with some other linen in another store and they were identical. Anyway...I bought a new piece of 40 count linen, and after a learning curve on such tiny linen, I decided I love the coverage of the thread on the 40 count. So...here I have started over and I'm much happier with the result on the 40 count. Still not sure I'm used to stitching on 40 count, but with time I know I'll get used to it.
This tree might be the death of me but it is so pretty that I know I'll be happy when it's done. Can't wait to get to Adam and Eve, the snake, and some of those darling animals. Such a fun project to start out the new year!

Oh Sister -- I love your Paradise Lost. You will get used to stitching on 40 count!! I love it!! HUGS
I love this design, it looks so fun with all the brughtly-colored creatures. I have been looking into the Swan Guild, didn't know it existed, but I am looking for more info and it sounds like you would be of great help to let me know what it is all about. Enjoy your "Paradise".
Paradise Looks wonderful and I'm glad that you are happy with the 40 count fabric. One nice thing about that fabric is only having to use one strand and it saves on the overall price of the piece! Can't wait to see more. It's such a great piece.
I LOVE it! So far, so good!
Funny you should mention counting...just yesterday my mom and Katelyn and I were fitting her formal when Katelyn spotted my textile magnifying glass. I had to explain to her that it makes counting threads and identifying small weaves MUCH easier...
...that sure was a fun class, 5 years ago! :)
Beautiful!! Yes, that has happened to me too -- thinking that a fabric is one count and it turns out to be another. So annoying! Especially when it was sold as that count that it's not! I know what you're saying about stitching the tree too. Those trees are a bear to stitch IMO! But worth all the effort in the end! Hope you're feeling better!
The trees do take awhile to stitch but the end result is so, so worth it! Sorry to hear about the initial frustration. I think you'll find the 40 ct easier as you go along and your eyes become accustomed to it. I love the coverage on 40 ct because I hate using two strands of thread. Enjoy it--it looks great!
A fabulous new start! I thinks it's going to be beautiful!
It's looking wonderful! I can't wait to start this project. Don't you thing Adam and Eve are cute in this sampler?
Take Care!
Pretty, pretty. I am doing mine on 40 count too, thank goodness for strong readers, LOL. It's such a fun piece to stitch.
Looks like your off and stitching a beautiful project. Can't wait to see the finish project. I haven't cross stitched for over 10 years. WOW!! I'm impressed your still stitching away! YOU GO GIRL!!
Love your PL on 40ct. That tree is looking gorgeous!
