This project is included in the book
A Schoolgirl's Work, Samplers from the Spencer Museum of Art, By Barb Adams and Alma Allen, of Blackbird Designs.
This is the outside of both boxes.

The inside of the box, top was stitched on 32 count Lakeside Linen with a conversion to silk threads. The fabric used is what Barb and Alma used on their model which is a line of their own fabric,
"Wild Rose" by Moda.

A close-up of the stitched portion. I might add, this stitched up very quickly and, oh my, it was delightfully fun! I pinned and did the lacing also...(I patted myself on the back for doing that!)

And here's the bottom inside of the box. I included some old buttons, pins, and a pair of antique scissors I bought on Etsy. Now, to find just the right place to display my newest acquisition!

Aussie Helen is also doing this box. We painted and did all the box finishing before we stitched the inside top of the box. So, Helen's piece should be coming along, right Helen?
If you haven't picked this book up yet at your local needlework store, you should consider doing it, or putting it on your Christmas Wish List! The whole book is wonderful! I loved reading about all the schoolgirl samplers and perusing all the fabulous pictures.
Have a lovely next two weeks...Christmas is coming so fast. My stitching has pretty much come to a screeching halt of late!
