For the past 6 weeks, my friend Helen has been in town for a visit. Now, you say that 6 weeks is a long time...but in our case...not near enough time! At this writing, Helen is probably 6 hours into her flight back home, which is Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Helen and her husband come to the US almost every year for a visit with their son and his family who live closeby in Draper. I met Helen through the Swan Sampler Guild several years ago and our friendship has taken off from there. While she was here we stitched at the local needlework shop, Craft Center of Fine Stitchery (almost every Monday), took a class from Ebeth of Dames of the Needle through the Swan Guild, visited the Bush, several other stitch-related shops, Brighton (jewelry at the Gateway)...ahem...I spent twice what I'd planned to...(thanks Helen)! We stitched at my house, watched a movie, ate lunch in and out at Paradise Bakery until we were probably sick of it...(LOL)... So much fun to spend time with a person you have a lot in common with! I'm going to miss you Helen! Good thing we have email and blogs and the whole internet thing to help keep us in touch! Oh what would we do without stitch friends??

This is a picture of a little pin cushion I made for Helen, it's Blackbird's Bluebird, Reward of Merit. I really enjoyed stitching this and finishing it. I took the picture on a cloudy day and so the flash really brightened things up a tad much.

Thanks for stopping by!

I'm so glad you had a wonderful time together. Isn't it amazing how the world gets smaller due to the internet? Who would have thought of having friends from Australia just a decade or so ago? Love what you stitched for Helen -- so pretty! Hope your holiday preparations are going well!
I love seeing the pic of you and Helen together. Thanks for sharing. I know what it's like to have wonderful stitching friends....and stitching sisters too!! xoxoxo
It sounds like you had the most wonderful time. I have to agree that it's amazing what the internet has done for brining people together - like a lot of us in Utah in September. We have the opportunity to meet people that we never would have known before!
Got the link posted! Thanks Cathy! Enjoying catching up on your blog!
Awww, it sounds like a great time had between friends. Those Brighton stores sure can lead you astray, can't they?! ;) Love the gift that you made for Helen!
You are so cute. Look how many friends you get just by stitching amazingly. I need to take it up. :) Merry Christmas!
Sure enjoyed your blog. I am now a follower. As I looked at your photos I realized you live in Utah. I am also from Utah, American Fork. Keep hoping to meet new stitching friends closer to home. Just not many of them. Would love to hear from you.
Thanks for sharing your talents.
