Last Thursday I made the trek with friends to a Swan Sampler Guild, Amy Mitten Shakespeare Get-Away/Retreat in Cedar City, Utah. We had an absolutely fabulous time! Amy is always a very fun teacher. She wrote a mystery play/story in her usual style called "The Final Soliloquy." A few of us took the parts of the "players." It was hilarious! The mystery sampler is exquisite! I hope I can stitch it! Here's a picture of the finished piece...mine is still a blank canvas! Click on the picture and look at it up close. We actually stitch the lacy cuffs and collars using detached buttonhole and other "stuff." This will definitely be a learning piece for me!

We stayed at a bed and breakfast near the Shakespearean Festival and enjoyed a couple of plays as well as a lecture on the costume designs and a backstage tour. What fun! The people at the B&B were so accommodating. We ate all our meals there and they spoiled us rotten! Here are just a few fun pictures.

Very fun! I love the piece, it reminds me of a tapestry. Glad you had a nice weekend.
Wow! Now I know what Amy Mitten looks like! lol! And ack!!! I don't know if I can stitch this one! Well, I guess I'll find out when I get the kit! :D Wish I could have come -- I sooooo wish I could have! I need to know how to do the queen stitch more easily. Is that video online somewhere? Can you explain it to me from afar? lol!
Glad you had a great time, Cathy! Lucky you!

That piece is just something else. I love all the pics you sent. I'm just shaking my head in amazement!! I can't imagine stitching that one either. But what a treasure... HUGS
Glad that you had a fabulous weekend----just home in time to take another weekender. Lucky you!
The B&B sounds delightful along with being pampered.
XOXO
It always nice to get away. So glad you had a great time. That sampler is amazing!! I can't wait to see it when you get it finished
This sounds like a bunch of fun! :) I love park city and I wish I was good at stitching and sewing. :)
I would love to stitch that design. I hope you'll post your progress pics. It looks like a lot of work though. What's the size? I am very curious about the queen stitch directions she gave. I love the queen stitch and would love to know if I can improve mine.
