D-day, March 5, 2009...

Follow the link below...the house was demolished yesterday morning...Sickening, really...but now we can move forward.

(You'll have to block and copy the link into your browser because I can't figure out how to do a link!) Set it for a slide show and watch the place come down. It was hard but I'm glad I watched. It's amazing how something that takes 5 months to build can come down in all of 60 minutes. I have other pictures of the clean-up process and will post them later. We went last night after the workers left and picked out some brick to use in some part of landscaping in our new backyard. It was surreal to stand in places you'd been for years and not recognize where you really were, but we came back home to our new place and were very thankful for such a nice roof over our heads. Our friends have been dropping by today with cards and flowers...how nice is that? That, my friends, is why we chose to stay in this neighborhood, because of the wonderful people who live around us!

Wayne's garage is really taking shape. He's painting the interior right now, the stucco is curing and will be ready for the color if the weather would permit, then the exterior rock, and the driveway...and he can move in..or shall I say my basement can lose some funky items!

I spent the day stitching at a Swan Sampler Guild class. Our teacher was Diane Clements from Walnut Creek, CA. We are learning the great art of Reticello...(a fancy word for a form of lace). I'll take pictures and post them tomorrow. We had a blast!

Crazy!! I was almost heartbroken seeing this go too...which kind of surprises me! How brave of you to watch it. Such good memories for me in that house.

Oh Cathy.....it made me sick to see those pics. I can't imagine how you're feeling. Hope everything is going well in the new house. You need to email me your new address!

Oh wow Cathy, that is so sad! I hope you are doing ok. You must have hated to watch that.

That's great about dh's garage. Sounds like it's going to be very nice.

Looking forward to your Sampler Guild pics!

Cathy, you were so brave to watch your old house go down. I don't think I would have been able to face that. I hope you're doing all right and will be able to move on now. It's so sad to see those pictures.

I'd forgotten about the Diane Clements class. Can't wait to see the pictures. I'll probably be kicking myself for not ordering the kit!
