Meet Martha Knapp

I think she is from Pennsylvania...
I have opened a HUGE can of worms for myself.
Now I need to conserve her.
Where to begin?
Well, first I took her out of her nasty, nasty old frame.
Next up, removing her off an old cruddy brown board,
placing her on a clean, acid-free mat board with
warm and natural covered with freshly washed muslin.
Then pictures for a conservator...and an estimate...
She deserves it, don't you think?

Next time I get on eBay, kindly slap my hands...

How lucky Martha is coming to live with someone who will take care of her. I do agree that EBay can be trouble for some...I tend to stay away unless I really, really have to find something. Beautiful sampler.

I love your Easter photos too - such a beautiful family!

Hello Cathy,
I just happened upon your blog and I am so glad I did. This is a beautiful sampler. Can you believe my maiden name is Knapp...and my family is from Pennsylvania? If you find more info on this piece, I'd love to hear about it. Have a great weekend,
